More Than 400 Candles Light Up Church

12 December 2021

It's the most wonderful time of the year!  And we have a huge treat for you: our gorgeous church lit by more than 400 candles!
Wednesday and Friday, 15th and 17th, you can pop in at any time that suits you between 5pm and 7.30pm and enjoy some peace, beauty, and calm.

Thursday, 16th December will have a full evening of entertainment too!

The church is only lit this way for less than 10 hours every year.

It really isn't to be missed!

We look forward to making you feel most welcome.

Oh, by the way, it's Christmas, so we have a gift for one of those of you who receive a personal postcard invite through your letterbox.
The winning number is in the bottom-right corner of the hand-written side.
If you remember to bring your postcard with you, you may be the winner!

If the winner doesn't come, the prize will go to our favourite pet charity!
ALSO, if the winner comes the first night, I will put another prize into the draw.

You get the idea - if we have a winner on Wednesday and Thursday, I will put an additional prize in the draw so that we have a winner, potentially, each evening.

The numbers are picked at random in advance so you'll know when you arrive with your card if it's you!
The prize is worth £24.

My Candlelit Story

If you're still reading, I want to wax lyrical about how magically beautiful this building is when lit by over 400 candles.
My first experience of Swanage URC was coming in off-the-street when they were preparing for the candlelit events.  I was blown away by the scale and grace of the effort the team go to to make this happen.  Of course, I went back to see them alight in the dark of a Winter's night.

The impact is breathtaking, and know also that there is a unique warmth and slight scent to the air when you have that many candles.

I've never forgotten that first impression, and am now smiling that it opened the door to my current role as the Church's Mission Enabler.

I hope to share that same magic with you.
Christmas Wishes
